Problem: Hi, I recently updated and installed the new operating system for my Galaxy s9. For some reason when I listen to music through the Samsung music app, it will stop playing after a few seconds. Can you please make a suggestion or two on this could be fixed. Thank you. If an update is available then I suggest that you download and install it first. Are your music files stored in the internal storage of the phone or are they in the microSD card?
If they are in the microSD card then try moving some songs to the internal storage then remove the card. Check if the problem still occurs. The first thing that you will need to do in this particular case is a soft reset.
This will usually fix issues caused by minor software glitches as it will refresh the phone software. This is also called as a simulated battery pull as it disconnects the phone from the battery. Since your phone is now running on a new software version, the apps in your phone might not be optimized yet to run on this latest software.
You will need to check if your phone apps have any updates available then update them accordingly. If this app keeps on randomly stopping then it might have some corrupt data which needs to be removed.
Another factor that can cause this problem is an app you downloaded to the device. To check if this is the case you will need to start the phone in Safe Mode since only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. The phone system cached data is used to speed up the access to your phone apps. Sometimes this data can get corrupted which results in issues occuring on the device. There is an aggressive mechanism of power saving on Android 9 Pie and Android 10 Q.
The operating system tries to put every other app to sleep to prevent the battery drain. But when it comes to audio players and Spotify in particular such extreme power saving behavior can turn out to be excessive and stop music playback after a few minutes automatic screen lock by timeout or even after a few seconds if you lock your screen by pressing the Power button.
My Galaxy S10 itself offered me to limit the background activity of the application and I agreed. I would never have thought that this could lead to such sad consequences and affect the playing of music in the background. And when I noticed apps went to sleep and stopped playing sound or music, I had to find this setting and return everything as it was. Now there is no problem. From time to time there is a problem with playing music through a bluetooth connection.
I usually listen through Google Music and suddenly music can simply stop playing, and as soon as I turn on the screen without unlocking the music starts playing again. In the application settings, the background activity is turned on, but this problem sometimes appears anyway. What to do? The answer is obvious — disable app sleep and allow background data. However, some users report that if you allow the display to time out and sleep on its own, Spotify will continue to shut off when the display sleeps on some devices.
It would be great if you tell us about your experience on the problem in the comments. And finally let us allow the app to normally use cellular data, especially when it comes to Spotify. If nothing of the above helps you fix music playback interruptions, you can try the following option that will hopefully help you get around the issue. Configuring Always On Display to show continuously should prevent apps from being put asleep by Android 9 on your Galaxy and they should play music without interruptions.
This problem is extremely important and interesting for all Galaxy S10 owners. If you know another solution, please, tell us and we will add it to the article. Thanks a lot in advance! This was a great article well thought out and accurate. Thanks very much for taking the time to post this.
Thank you so much for this posting. The show AOD always fixed this for me for good! Seems that if you have the tap to show on it sleeps the radio.
I was frustrated all morning while mowing the lawn. Thought it was my bluetooth. Tried everything till I saw this. Many thanks for you time and effort putting this out. This hasnt resolved my problem. I have tried everything listed above and the problem still persists.
Tried all the steps and AOD as well, google play still stops after 2 mins. Just so people know, called samsung support, and they just reset my phone settings. Support people apparently dont have any idea whats goingon. Also nothing helps me. It stops after a few seconds not always the same amount. So times it continue on its own.The Samsung Galaxy S8 is a flagship phone released last year that redefines the way the company makes their flagship devices.
This model now uses a much larger 5. This is made possible since the phone no longer has a physical home button. Under the hood is a Snapdragon processor which when paired with its 4GB of RAM allows the phone to run multiple apps smoothly.
Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today.
In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Samsung Galaxy S8 music stops playing when connected to Bluetooth issue and other related problems.
Problem: Samsung S8, Bluetooth pairs fine and stays connected. However, songs cut in and out. Phone is current with software updates. Have had phone for around a year.
Have had Kenwood stereo purchased Sept swapped out with brand new Kenwood stereo purchased Sept 7, and installed both from Best Buy. Stereos had all updates following factory resets. Kenwood stereos bluetooth function works fine with other phones, no cutting in or out.
Help, please!! This is so frustrating!! I do not need the latest phone or another stereo. Solution: If the problem only occurs when the phone connects to the Kenwood speakers this is most likely caused by compatibility issues of the firmware of the phone and the speaker. You can do the troubleshooting steps listed below to fix this problem. In case the problem persists then you should contact the speaker manufacturer regarding this problem.

Solved Samsung Galaxy S8 Music Stops Playing When Connected To Bluetooth
That did not work. This is definitely a bug. It is not a mobile data or wi-fi issue. It is a Samsung issue. Amazon Music, IHear radio and others all stop playing randomly. I allowed background activity and not put to sleep. Why does a new software update have to break things that were working fine. You guys needs to test your software changes.
I am having the same issue and have followed all of these steps, yet the problem continues Have you come up with any other solutions?

Re: Music stops randomly. Long-press an app to bring up the remove option.Whenever I'm on Tidal or Spotify the music will keep pausing at any given time.
Probably any music streaming service. But I tried to restart, redownload apps made sure they wouldn't go into sleep mode after a while. I know the phone just came out which maybe a glitch, but if there is any answer for it.
I'd greatly appreciate it. Go to Solution.
Galaxy S10 Stops Playing Music on Screen Lock – Fix Spotify and Radio Playback

On Bluetooth in my car or on my bluetooth speaker and just descovered my wired earphones do the same. Sometimes the middle button to change or pause music doesnt work either! I'm seeing this with both the Galaxy earbuds and other headphones including wired. No external inteference and within a foot of the phone. Sometimes it restarts itself after a second or so, othertimes it needs the button pressing to restart it. Very irritating. Further update: it seems just touching the screen when it's in locked mode will restart the music.
I can leave it for 30 sec after it freezes and it just restarts with a single tap. Quite odd. And another update: using a 3rd party music player black player in this case does not have the problem, it seems to be limited to Spotify.

Install the preview release - I suggested this to someone with the same issue yesterday and it sounds like it solved it. It also allows extreme quality. Get it from the Previews link at the bottom of this page. So I've been having the same problem for months now. It has been very frustrating to use spotify in my car while driving because the music would stop playing a couple of minutes after the screen turned off. I had tried searching around online for other people having the same problem and I finally came across this post.
Almost as soon as I did, a thought popped into my head. I realized that I have an auto-end list that kills certain programs if they are running after two minutes of my screen turning off.
Low and behold, spotify had made it on that list. I turned it off yesterday and spotify has not once stopped playing. It is working fine now. I don't know if everyone else having this problem will fall into the same boat, but I would suggest to anyone coming across this post that has the same problem to check any apps you have running that kill tasks and make sure that spotify is not included in that list.
